Overview

Symbol Structure is a free, browser-based pattern design tool for weavers, knitters, and anyone who thinks in punch cards. These terms cover how your account, patterns, and data are handled.

The short version: your data is yours, it is never sold, and you can delete everything at any time.

Your Data

Patterns and fragments you save are stored in your account on Supabase, our database provider. Your data is never sold, shared with third parties, or used for advertising. We do not collect analytics beyond what our hosting provider (Vercel) logs for infrastructure purposes — page request counts and error rates.

The only personal information we hold is your email address. It is used solely to send you passwordless login links. We will never send you marketing email unless you explicitly opt in at a future date.

Your Patterns

You own everything you create. Private patterns are visible only to you. Public patterns are visible to all visitors of the app. By marking a pattern as public you grant Symbol Structure a non-exclusive licence to display it within the app — nothing more.

Your patterns are not used to train AI models. We will not permit third parties to use them for that purpose.

Account & Data Deletion

You may request deletion of your account and all associated data at any time by contacting us at the address below. On deletion:

• All of your saved patterns — public and private — are permanently removed from our database.
• Your email address is removed from our authentication records.
• Any locally cached data in your browser can be cleared via your browser's site data settings.

Deletion is permanent and irreversible. We do not retain backups of deleted accounts beyond a 7-day database backup window, after which the data is unrecoverable.

Public Patterns & Community

Patterns you share publicly appear in the Community section of the pattern library, visible to all users including unauthenticated visitors. You can make a public pattern private again at any time — it will be removed from the community view immediately.

We reserve the right to remove public patterns that are offensive, harmful, or in violation of these terms, without notice. Reports can be sent to the contact address below.

Authentication

We use email magic links (passwordless authentication) provided by Supabase Auth. No password is ever stored. Each login link expires after 24 hours and can only be used once.

Age Requirement

You must be at least 13 years old to create an account. By creating an account, you confirm that you meet this requirement.

Free & Future Paid Features

Symbol Structure is currently entirely free. If a paid tier is introduced in the future, all features that are free today will remain free. Any paid features will be clearly identified as such before you are asked to pay anything.

Changes to These Terms

We may update these terms from time to time. Material changes will be communicated via a notice in the app. Continued use of the app after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the updated terms.

Governing Law

These terms are governed by the laws of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, United States. Any disputes shall be resolved in the courts of Pennsylvania.
